Center for Village Transformation

Building Smart Villages, one lab at a time.

India's villages contribute 46% of net domestic product and employ 70% of the workforce — yet nearly 2,000 farmers give up farming every day. Our four labs exist to reverse that trend.

Smart Villages start with a single visit like this one.

Agrilab, Healthlab, Edulab and Energylab all begin with showing up, in person.

Lab 01 · Agriculture

Agrilab: Farmer empowerment through data.

Agricultural labour productivity in India is less than a third of China's and just 1% of the US's. Soil degradation, underdeveloped irrigation, outdated machinery and fragmented supply chains keep farmers locked out of prosperity.

Our solution: real-time data collection through a Farmer Unique ID card, connecting each farmer to government schemes, weather updates, insurance, crop consultancy, irrigation guidance and fair post-harvest pricing — with Agrilab acting as an aggregator across every agri-tech partner in the ecosystem.

Data-driven farming for productivity and dignity.

Lab 02 · Health

Healthlab: Women & children's health.

Every Smart Village program is anchored in healthcare for the people who need it most — mothers, children and families navigating limited access to clinics, electronic records and capacity-building for local health workers.

Community wellness starting with women and children.

Lab 03 · Education

Edulab: Education for all, digital literacy.

Only 2% of people aged 15–29 in India report formal vocational training. Edulab brings digital literacy and value-based education to remote schools — the same Global Classroom Project model connecting rural students to global experts and peers.

Edulab

Digital literacy, delivered where it's needed most.

Lab 04 · Energy

Energylab: Renewable energy, electricity for all.

Rural electrification is the prime mover of rural development — powering both industrialisation and agricultural productivity. Energylab provides problem-based consultancy on efficient energy supply, solar and wind adoption, and rural-appropriate technology transfer.

Local Business Empowerment

Beyond farming: 60% of rural income.

Only 40% of rural households depend on farming as their main income. The rest run dairy farms, kirana stores, tailoring units, repair shops, poultry and construction businesses — and they need capital, skills and internet access just as much as any startup.

01

Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

Workshops on business planning, marketing, funding and branding for local business owners.

02

Access to Credit

Bridging the financing gap that has seen small rural loans decline by more than half since 2004.

03

Skills & Digitisation

Capacity-building, digital presence and social-media training for daily-needs businesses.

04

Government & NGO Networks

Connecting underutilised government schemes directly to the rural entrepreneurs who need them.
